A Month of Purpose
Live a Prosperous Life via God's Holy Word.
The scripture for February and March comes from Hosea 4:6. In this scripture God is telling us that being ignorant of His laws and commands will be our downfall, literally our destruction. This is also true when it comes to history. The Bible tells of the ancient history of Israel. Learning this history is a way for us to learn from their mstakes when it comes to God. There are other histories we need to pay attention to as well.
The history of the country we live in, whether it be the United States, France, Russia, Iran, Sudan or China, is important for us to know. Our family history is equally as important and our own personal history is probably the most important. These histories are learning tools for us. We need to learn from our past mistakes and continue to do the things that were right and pleasing in God's eyes. When we forget our history, we are doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past. Sometimes repeating those mistakes can come with greater consequences the second, third or even fourth time around.
For the next two months I would like to encourage us to take a look at the life of King David and his son Solomon.
David Solomon
1 Samuel 16 - 2 Samuel 1 Kings 1 - 1 Kings 11
What lesson should David have learned from Saul's reign (specifically Saul's relationship with David)?
What lessons should Solomon had learned from the life his father, David, led?
These are exploratory questions with no right or wrong answer that I can give. These are questions that we should ponder as we are led by the God's Holy Spirit.
